God Calls Us by Name—and Gives Us New Ones

HI! My Name is Amber! Not Accountant. Not Leader. Not University Student. Nice to meet you!

Throughout scripture, God calls His children by names that reflect His heart for us. These names aren’t just descriptions; they’re declarations. Let’s reclaim the truth of who we are in Him.

1. Treasure

“For we are God’s masterpiece.” – Ephesians 2:10
(See also 1 Samuel 16:1-13, 2 Chronicles 4:7)

You are a masterpiece—crafted, shaped, and known. God doesn’t make junk. Even when others overlook us, God sees our value. We are His treasure, carefully and lovingly formed.

2. Chosen

“You did not choose Me, but I chose you…” – John 15:16

We weren’t randomly selected or reluctantly accepted—we were chosen. God wanted us. We are the objects of divine favor, hand-picked for a purpose.

3. Beloved

“Unloved” is not your name.
No matter your past or your pain, God’s love is relentless. He doesn’t just tolerate us—He delights in us. You are not forgotten. You are the Beloved.

4. Daughters (and Sons)

“He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ…” – Ephesians 1:5
“The Lord gives the command; the women who proclaim the good tidings are a great host…” – Psalm 68:11

We are not strangers or outsiders—we are family. God designed the concept of family, and He welcomes us into His own. We belong.

5. Brave

“Don’t be surprised at the fiery trials…” – 1 Peter 4:12
“Consider it pure joy… whenever you face trials…” – James 1:2

God never promised an easy road, but He does promise His presence. He calls us to courage—to do the hard things, face the unknown, and trust Him through it all.

Reclaim Your Name

The enemy would love nothing more than to confuse your identity. If he can get you to forget who you are, he can distract you from your purpose. But Isaiah 49:16 reminds us of the unshakable truth:

“Look, I have written your name on the palms of my hands…” – Isaiah 49:16

You are never out of His sight. Never out of His love.
Let’s stop chasing labels and start embracing our true names—the ones God Himself has spoken over us.

You are His.
You are Chosen.
You are Beloved.
You are Brave.
You are a Son/Daughter.
You are a Treasure.

And above all else—you are known by name.
